Deploying Static Plugins

If you are running a standard dotcms release running the bundled Tomcat, these are the steps to deploy a static plugin:

  1. Extract the plugin archive into it's own folder in the <your_dotCMS>/plugins folder (e.g. <your_dotCMS>/plugins/oauth)
  2. Stop dotcms
  3. If you are making changes to an already deployed plugin:
    • undeploy-plugins.sh (Linux, Unix-based)
    • undeploy-plugins.bat (Windows)
  4. Deploy your plugin by running:
    • deploy-plugins.sh (Linux, Unix-based)
    • deploy-plugins.bat (Windows)
  5. Restart dotCMS

If you are running dotcms as a war file:

  1. Extract the plugin archive into it's own folder in the <your_dotCMS>/plugins folder (e.g. <your_dotCMS>/plugins/oauth)
  2. If you are making changes to an already deployed plugin:
    • undeploy-plugins.sh (Linux, Unix-based)
    • undeploy-plugins.bat (Windows)
  3. Deploy your plugin by running:
    • deploy-plugins.sh (Linux, Unix-based)
    • deploy-plugins.bat (Windows)
  4. Generate a new war by running bin/buildwar.sh
  5. Follow the best practices for deploying a war file to your application server.
